Last Saturday happy news for the Al Maktoum dynasty were revealed. Prince Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, a son of Dubai's Emir, and his wife Hessa Beljafla welcomed their fourth child into the world. The newborn was named Rashid.
The pair are already parents to twin boys: Mohammed & Dubai (b. 2015) and to a girl Maitha (b. 2017).
Majid is one of the 23 children (9 sons and 14 daughters) of the current Emir (/Prince) of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, who is also the Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE (posts that use to be transfered hereditary there).
His mother, Huriyah Ahmed Al M'aash is a native Algerian, and (as a secondary wife of Mohammed bin Rashid), an unofficial member of Dubai's royal family. He has three full-sisters and a full-brother.
There is no special information, about his wife, Sheikha Hessa.
Majid himself (aged 31) has been widely involved in charities, regarding youth activity, literacy, arts & sports. He is also interested in traditional sports, like horse & camel riding, swimming, football (soccer) and shooting. Some of the numerous initiatives he has launched include a calligraphy centre, youth media awards & national training.
During his father's reign the emirate was turned to a global ciy with major enterprises, however in some cases the right of freedom was violated even to members of the royal family. Majid's sister, Princess Latifa, was caught by the authorities last year while trying to escape overseas, seeking an assylum abroad, with the royal court reporting nine months later that she was safe in Dubai.
