Last Saturday the House of Muhammad Ali, former reigning dynasty of Egypt, celebrated a royal wedding.

Princess Fawzia-Latifa, the daughter of the last King, tied the knot with French engineer Sylvain Honoudou (who works in Monaco).
The wedding celebration was a private affair, held at the residence of bride's father (King Fouad II) in Geneva (, Switzerland), with only family members in attendance.

The former King's birthday (actually January 16) was also celebrated.

The princess, 36, was born in Monte-Carlo, and is the youngest granddaughter of Egypt's King Farouk I, who reigned between 1936 and 1952. He was forced to abdicate by a military coup.

Her father, Ahmed Fouad, succeeded the throne while an infant, becoming the youngest serving state-leader since 1945. He briefly reigned under a regency, before monarchy was abolished in 1953.

Her mother, Jewish-born Dominique-France Loeb-Picard, was known as Princess/"Queen" Fadila of Egypt during her marriage with Fouad II, which produced two other sons before their divorse.

Fawzia Latifa was named in honor of her paternal great-aunt (Queen Fawzia Fouad), the first wife of the last Shah of Iran (Mohammad Reza Pahlavi), and also after Princess-consort Lalla Latifa, widow of Morocco's previous King Hassan II (& mother of current King Mohammed VI).
She reportedly works in the field of public relations and media, having also been a diplomat with a delegation from the Principality of Monaco to Austria.

Members of the former King's family currently have Monegasque citizenship.
